Our guest for lunch this week was Jim Tuman, founder of Jimmy's Kids. Since 1989, Jimmy's Kids has served the littlest ones, the disadvantaged who would otherwise be forgotten... those who are indigent, physically or emotionally impaired and in some cases, parentless. They operate with hundreds of volunteers to take care of these forgotten kids and families in need. And they don't turn anyone away. Jimmy's Kids receives requests for help from schools, hospitals, churches, neighborhood associations and families. This amazing program has grown from a local effort to serving children in seven midwestern states. Their goal is to provide a Christmas to over 25,000 needy children from Kindergarten through 4th grade with toys, food and clothing items that spring from donations. Jim is also a motivational speaker who travels to schools to speak on the topic of anti-bullying. If you would like to learn more about these great programs, please visit www.jimmyskids.com and www.jimtuman.com.
Our guest for lunch this week was Ray Pudik representing the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Michigan. Since 1984, Make-A-Wish Michigan, a 501c3 public charity, has granted wishes to nearly 7,000 special children in Michigan. Of each dollar spent, nearly 80 cents goes directly to granting wishes for children with life-threatening medical conditions. Funding comes from individual contributors, special events, corporate donations and sponsorships, foundation grants, workplace giving programs and planned gifts. Make-A-Wish Michigan is governed by a volunteer board of directors, with a dedicated professional staff and hundreds of volunteers committed to making a positive difference in the lives of families who are battling life-threatening medical conditions. Ray and 900 other biking enthusiasts will ride in the 2012 Wish-A-Mile Bicycle Tour, July 26-29 from Traverse City to Brooklyn, Michigan.
The Jon Grant Classic Golf Outing is our largest fundraiser each year. It provides the much needed revenues to support the many worthy causes the Xemplar Club helps to fund. Dress is "Tacky Hawaiian", and we do award a prize to the person who looks the best while spending the least. You'll enjoy 16-18 holes of golf (Jon Gant never finished an 18-hole round), lunch on the course and a sit-down buffet dinner followed by the best prize raffle of any golf outing. We are limited to 120 golfers, registration will close when all spots have been filled. Non-golfers are always welcome to join us for dinner. The blue button above is for the all-in-one golfer/sponsor/dinner guest/volunteer form. See you on June 27!
Golfers, diners and sponsors can also pay online by credit or debit card at the Jon Grant Signature Classic store.
