Ellen Koehler: MSU Tollgate Farm and Education Center

Our guest for lunch tomorrow will be Ellen Koehler, Educaion Manager at the Michigan State University Tollgate Farm. Located on the north side of 12 Mile Road at Meadowbrook Road, the MSU Tollgate provides an informal learning environment for children, families, and adults, offering the unique opportunity to experience agriculture hands-on in an urban environment. The 160 acre farmstead is owned by the Michigan State University College of Agriculture and Natural Resources and the Americana Foundation. MSU Tollgate farm represents a working farm with animals, community gardens, and sustainable agriculture demonstrations. Ellen will provide an overview of the learning opportunities available at MSU Tollgate Farm and Education Center and how they align with their mission, their role as part of the MSU Extension, programs, community supported agriculture, classes, and community events.
Michigan State University (MSU) Extension helps people improve their lives by bringing the vast knowledge resources of MSU directly to individuals, communities and businesses. For more than 100 years, MSU Extension has helped grow Michigan’s economy by equipping Michigan residents with the information that they need to do their jobs better, raise healthy and safe families, build their communities and empower our children to dream of a successful future. Go Green!
Parking for Xemplars attending the luncheon tomorrow is kindly provided by our good friends at Heeney Sundquist in the field behind Cowley's Pub. See you there!
CLC says "Don't Whine, but Please Bring Wine!"
Community Living Centers is requesting our support for their upcoming event at Comerica Park. They are inviting our Xemplar members bring in any unopened bottle of wine ($10 value minimum) to Cowley’s tomorrow as a contribution to the CLC Wine Pull to be held at their spring fundraiser. If you do not have time to get to a store, Lisa Murrell also accepts all forms of cash (except Rubles). All proceeds from the Wine Pull will directly support the developmentally challenged adults that CLC serves in Farmington & Farmington Hills. If you haven’t already, be sure to mark your calendars for May 20th, "A Night in the Den" hosted by Community Living Centers in the Comerica Park Tiger Den. Sounds like a lot of fun!
