Ellen Schnackel: Farmington Hills Special Services
Our guest for lunch this week will be Ellen Schnackel, Director of Special Services for the City of Farmington Hills. The Special Services Department is the third largest in the city, behind Police and Fire. The group includes Parks, Senior programming, After-School Programming, Camps, the Dog Park, Golf Course, Cultural Arts, Ice Arena, Nature Center, Longacre House, Splash Pad, Skate Park and more. Most of the staff are located at the new Hawk Community Center and Costick Activities Center, the rest are on-site throughout the city. Some of the data points are eye-opening. The Meals on Wheels program has over 200 volunteers delivering more than 100,000 meals each year. The golf course sees over 40,000 rounds of golf in a year. There are over 600 acres of parks. Ellen will update us on all of the newest improvements in Special Services including the Hawk. Should be fascinating!
Free parking is available for Xemplars attending the luncheon tomorrow in the Heeney Sundquist Recreational Parking Lot. See you there!
