We regret to inform our members of the passing of a former Xemplar member, and the wife of a former member.
Shirley Richardson (1937-2022)
Shirley Richardson entered eternal life on Tuesday evening, January 11, 2022, just 11 days following the passing of her beloved husband John on New Year’s morning. She was 84 and in declining health for some time.
Shirley was a former City Councilmember and Mayor of the City of Farmington. Both she and John were Xemplar Club members. She was a tireless volunteer and community advocate deeply dedicated to the greater Farmington community. Shirley was elected to Farmington City Council and served as Council member and Mayor in the 1990’s. In addition to her time on council, Shirley served on the City Planning Commission, Beautification Committee, Women in Municipal Government, Farmington Area Goodfellows, Gazebo/Pergola Fund Committee, Farmington Community Veterans, Farmington Jaycee Auxiliary, Founder’s Festival Committee, Longacre P.T.A., the Farmington Community Center, Keep Michigan Beautiful, Beautification Council of SE Michigan, Michigan Veterinary Association Auxiliary, and Southeastern Michigan Veterinary Medical Association Auxiliary.

JoAnn Holland (1936-2022
JoAnn Holland, wife of former Xemplar President Ron Holland, peacefully passed away Wednesday evening, January 12, 2022, at Brookdale Senior Living, Farmington Hills. She was 85 and in declining health for a few days. JoAnn, a teacher by profession, taught business courses such as shorthand and typing at North Farmington High School from 1961-68. She loved antiquing and parlayed her interest in antiques into a profession. She enjoyed buying, selling, dealing, and showing antiques, jewelry, and artwork in an endeavor that spanned two decades until her retirement in the late 1980s. She was very well-known in her field and enjoyed gathering with other like-minded people, mostly among a group called “the Questers”.
Surviving are her beloved husband of nearly 62 years, Ronald; devoted daughter, Ronalee (Andy) Rymsha; grandsons, River and Drake Rymsha; and a host of friends.
