American Legion Boys State

American Legion Boys State is an educational program sponsored by the American Legion Departments across the country to help young men learn about government and how it works. Our motto is Learn by Doing. The Boys State educational staff's goal is to facilitate the learning process by giving the citizens of Boys State an opportunity to govern themselves, and to run their own state.

American Legion Girls State

American Legion Girls State is a government simulation program comprised of approximately 400 of the best and brightest female students from around our state. The objective is to provide hands-on training in city, county, and state government. Citizens of Girls State will participate in a variety of activities. All levels of government (executive, legislative and judicial) are explored. The program was founded and is sponsored by the American Legion Auxiliary, the world's largest women's patriotic organization since 1920.

American Legion Groves-Walker Post 346

The American Legion was chartered by Congress in 1919 as a patriotic, war-time veterans organization, devoted to mutual helpfulness. It is a not-for-profit community-service organization which now numbers nearly 3 million members, men and women, in nearly 15,000 American Legion posts worldwide.

Boy Scouts of America Great Lakes Council

The Boy Scouts of America was incorporated to provide a program for community organizations that offers effective character, citizenship, and personal fitness training for youth. The Great Lakes Council covers all of Wayne, Oakland, and Macomb Counties, and is divided into eight districts. Officially organized into its present form in 2009 with the merger of the Clinton Valley and Detroit Area Councils, Great Lakes Council is one of the largest within the Boy Scouts of America.

Call to Action Coalition

The Farmington/Farmington Hills Call to Action Coalition is a community based non-profit organization dedicated to breaking the silence and addressing the pain and chaos caused by the abuse and addiction of alcohol and other drugs as well as domestic violence.

Care House

We are a voice for children who have no voice. We stand up for children when they cannot stand up for themselves. CARE House of Oakland County (home of the Child Abuse and Neglect Council of Oakland County) works to break the cycle of child abuse and neglect.

Farmington Area Goodfellows

More than 60 years ago, a group of fellows in what is now known as the Xemplar Club, decided to combine forces with other service clubs in the Farmington area to provide assistance to needy families around Christmas time.

Farmington Community Library

The Farmington Community Library is a District Library serving the two communities of Farmington and Farmington Hills. The Library facilitates independent learning and encourages the love of reading from early childhood throughout one's lifetime. The Library offers more than 272,446 Books for adults, teens, and children, with an additional 8,000+ eBooks. Nearly 30,000 Films are available in DVD and Video formats, plus 23,424 in Audio formats (Music and Books on CD or MP3 Discs and Cassette), as well as downloadable AudioBooks, mp3s, and PlayAways. We subscribe to 614 magazines and newspapers.

Farmington Elks

The Elks are involved in a wide variety of programs, from scholarships to drug education to Veterans Services, to inculcate the principles of Charity, Justice, Brotherly Love and Fidelity.

Farmington Optimist Club

An Optimist Club is a voluntary organization of civic-minded men and women banded together for progressive thought and action in community service. Our membership is composed of citizens drawn from business, industry, agriculture and the professions. Members are motivated by the desire to contribute to the community from which they and their families draw daily benefits. There is no greater opportunity for participation in community affairs and community service than in an Optimist Club.

Farmington Youth Assistance

Farmington Youth Assistance is a non-profit organization committed to preventing juvenile delinquency, child neglect and child abuse through community involvement. FYA, covering the Farmington School District and supported by Oakland County Youth Assistance, provides a variety of services and programs to enrich children and teens lives and help them to make positive life choices.

Focus Hope

Focus: HOPE is a nationally recognized civil and human rights organization in Detroit, Michigan. Our mission is to use intelligent and practical action to fight racism, poverty and injustice. Our programs include a food program for eligible mothers, children and senior citizens; education and training in information technology, manufacturing and engineering; community arts programs; community and economic development initiatives, and children's day care, including a popular Summer Day Camp.

JARC is a Farmington Hills, Michigan-based nonprofit, nonsectarian agency dedicated to enabling people with disabilities to live full, dignified lives in the community, and to providing support and advocacy for their families.

Mayor's Youth Council

The Farmington/Farmington Hills Mayors Youth Council is a group of teens dedicated to bettering their city by creating programs that appeal to high-schoolers. The MYC gives teens the opportunity to have fun, make new friends, plan events, and get involved in their community. Members have the chance to get hands-on experience in local government by working with the City Council while learning leadership and organizational skills. This is civic training at its best, giving kids the outlets and tools they need to increase their understanding of how to run a municipal body and make a difference.
